About us

The N&S CAMHS Adolescent At-risk & Forensic Service is a national, specialist service within the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. We work with young people aged 10-18, their families, carers and professional networks, offering evidence-based assessment and intervention using CBT, DBT and systemic models. Many of the young people in our service present with complex trauma, early adverse experiences and/or neurodiversity (autism, ADHD and/or intellectual disability). We work with young people whose complex needs may exceed what is available to them within their local CAMHS services, and work creatively to overcome barriers to engagement, whether these be individual, systemic, or multisystem. We are committed to providing the highest quality care to young people and families.

We are a friendly, supportive team and have a strong ethos of professional and personal development. We are committed to addressing inequality in access, experience and outcomes for both children and staff from diverse backgrounds. The team is currently made up of clinical psychologists, a forensic psychologist, clinical psychology trainees, MSc placement students, and assistant psychologists. The team is actively involved in research and we have close links with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London, Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology.
