We are seeking two enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapists to join our friendly, dedicated, and supportive team.

With a strong ethos of supervision and support, our dynamic team provides evidence-based advice, training, and interventions to support children and young people (CYP), their parents/carers and education staff. We work with CYP aged 0-19 with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and feeding difficulties at universal, targeted and specialist levels.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the independent management of a clinical caseload of pre-school and school-aged children in community settings. This may include community clinics, pre-school settings, mainstream and special schools in and around the area of Peterborough. The client group is children who have a range of difficulties in understanding and/or using speech and language.

  • Supervision we are dedicated to ensuring the highest quality clinical and professional supervision for our staff, including appraisals.
  • Development opportunities our Band 5 therapists have the opportunity to work with all client groups (with support as required), which places them in an excellent position to explore their interests in specific clinical specialisms, in preparation for progressing in their career. We are delighted to be able to guarantee the successful candidate a place on an external training course on completion of their competencies. This will depend on service need and identified appraisal objectives but may include courses such as Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Hanen courses, or Intensive Interaction.

  • Children and young people accessing individual or group-based interventions achieve their SLCN related individual goals and functional outcomes
  • Parents and carers are supported with appropriate information and skills to enable them to be effective primary communicative partners for their children and young people with needs at universal, targeted and specialist levels and achieve high parent/carer satisfaction rates
  • Using specialist knowledge and expertise to build skills in the wider workforce to ensure that they are confident in their role as facilitators of communication and are competent to deliver universal, targeted interventions and some elements of specialist programmes of intervention including individual and small group work
  • There are efficient and accessible systems to enable early identification of need both at an early developmental stage and also in terms of a rapid response to children and young people where concerns are raised at any age. Activity will include the training of others to identify need and providing pre-referral advice within community settings
  • Intervention is appropriate and timely, which may include direct or indirect with individuals and groups of individuals, delivered in the most functionally appropriate context, which is relative to specific need and in communication friendly environments.
