We are currently seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our experienced Paediatric Physiotherapists within our Community Paediatric Physiotherapy and Young Adult Service (0-25 yrs.)
Our wonderful team of Paediatric and Young Adult Specialist Physiotherapists would be delighted to help you to further your career development in the exciting world of Children's and Young Adult Physiotherapy.
The successful applicant will be required to work in a variety of settings including clinics, travel to homes, and educational settings (Mainstream and Specialist settings) in the City of Derby and Derbyshire.
The service is forward thinking and supportive of new ideas. We operate flexible working arrangements. Regular supervision is provided and we encourage training and personal development. Access to transport is required, allowances are payable.
Main duties of the job
To manage a mixed caseload of children and young people within a community setting and provide physiotherapy assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation interventions and advising parents, carers and schools leading to an effective package of care using clinical reasoning and evidence based/child centred principles thus ensuring a quality service is delivered.
To supervise and teach technical instructors and students and provide clinical supervision for colleagues in order that all staff achieve their full potential.
To participate in planning and development of the service to ensure a quality service is delivered against national agendas.
To work closely with the multi-agency team to ensure physiotherapy is fully integrated into the child's care programme.
To deliver an age appropriate package of Physiotherapy intervention for older children and young adults to support transition into adult services.

Person Specification Attainment and qualification Essential
- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registered (Health & Care Professions Council)
- Post graduate experience in a broad range of specialties equate to at least 2 years
- Evidence of relevant post, grad courses/CPD.
- Basic working knowledge of IT packages
- Relevant Band6/Band 5 Paediatric experience
- oAPCP member
- Ability to assess and treat CYP with physical disabilities.
- Ability to plan and evaluate treatment programmes
- Demonstrate evidence of problem solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team/cross agency working
- Committed to personal and team development
- Good interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution
- Able to work well with others and pass on skills/knowledge e.g. training/teaching skills
- Ability to pass on skills/knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments
- Ability to prioritise, supervise delegate and organise.
- Ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel (or similar office software packages)

- Knowledge of documentation using electronic patient records.

- Experience of additional professional roles e.g. CSP Steward/Health & Safety/Leadership/Journal Club
- Experience of alternative therapy tools such as MOVE / Hydrotherapy .
- Relevant specialist Paediatric Physiotherapy training e.g. Bobath / Oxford Seating / Biomechanics of Gait
- Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience with a broad range of specialties
- Relevant Band6/Band 5 Paediatric experience
- Ability to work independently using own initiative
- Knowledge of a variety of adjuncts to therapy e.g. orthotics, mobility aids, specialist equipment for postural management
- Knowledge of legislation relating to professional practice and CYP / safeguarding / disability.
- Sound understanding of, and ability to contribute to, clinical governance and risk
- CPD evidence to support post graduate courses and learning opportunities
- Knowledge of a variety of paediatric conditions relating to physical disability in CYP, including cerebral palsy, Muscular dystrophies and other neuro-developmental conditions who may also present with multiple and complex needs
- Knowledge of CYP development and conditions affecting this including Developmental Coordination Disorder
- Member of the APCP
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Passion for Paediatric Physiotherapy
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and tact.
- Ability to communicate effectively with CYP of all ages and abilities and their carers
