An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly integrated Community Team for Learning Disabilities in Hull and the East Riding on a permanent basis. We have two full time posts available.
Our team provides Speech and Language Therapy input into the community teams, the intensive support team (works with service users who require more intensive support at a given time to manage risk, prevent placement breakdown or an inpatient admission), our mental health inpatient unit and forensic services.
Main duties of the job
You will work across the region in community settings, seeing individuals in their homes, in day centres and in respite provision. You will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team and will be joining a supportive and friendly Speech and Language Therapy team.
You will receive high quality supervision and will work through mentorship on national competencies to become responsible for your own autonomous practice.
You will be able to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and a keen interest in the area of adult learning disability and will be providing assessment and interventions to individuals with complex communication difficulties. Experience in the management of dysphagia is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant will be supported to access post graduate dysphagia training.
The ability to commute within the Trust's geographical area, with access to an appropriate means of transport is also essential.
