An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic part time Consultant Psychiatrist to join The Older Peoples Mental Health team working in the community locality of East Southampton with a catchment area of 6,000 Older Adults
Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the medical team covering East Southampton which consists of another permanent full time consultant as well as rotating higher and junior trainees (full time specialist registrar (ST4-6) and a full time FY2 doctor) working in the East Southampton team covering a total population of 16,500.

The East Southampton team is a mature team with its nursing staff able to undertake initial assessments of referrals including urgent referrals as part of an established duty system. There is an established team manager and dedicated memory nurse as well as in-reach nurse into care and nursing homes. There is also a part time consultant clinical psychologist who provides psychological therapies as well as neuropsychological assessments. There is only one nursing vacancy in the team currently at the time of advertisement.

The post holder will only have community responsibilities and on call duties (approximately 1 in 18).

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council
  • To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
  • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT at time of interview.
  • Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
