A great opportunity is now available to gain experience in our adult mental health inpatient ward at Campbell Centre on the Milton Keynes Hospital Site.

We have a vacancy for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist who is passionate, motivated and willing to join our multi-disciplinary team in providing recovery focused support for individuals with mental health needs.

The post holder will be working alongside other health professional within the MDT as well as external agencies to offer and facilitate an evidence-based therapy programme for patients during their hospital admission. There will also be support from a Band 6 Occupational Therapist and activity coordinators on each ward as well as an inpatient Lead Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job

The post holder would work under the supervision of senior occupational therapists to ensure patients are supported through the acute care within Occupational Therapy pathway. As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will incorporate OT assessments, treatment and management of individuals / interventions and support for individuals within the service, with emphasis on group and individual interventions and recovery focused care.

The post holder will work alongside senior occupational therapist to develop and implement a therapeutic treatment programme for acute patient care, and be involved in ward-based delivery of these as well as in the community, linking with wider statutory agencies and voluntary organisations.

To educate and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, students, patients and relatives.

To work as part of the integrated multidisciplinary team, taking on the role of key worker and care coordinator where required.

  • Varied clinical approaches and clinical skills
  • Experience in providing short term individual and group treatments

  • Knowledge of relevant models of care and experience in utilising professional approaches
  • Good working knowledge of Mental Health Act and CPA
Personal Essential
  • Full driving licence in order to drive the unit vehicle
