Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service (IAPT)
Band 6 - Gateway Worker (RMN or other equivalent Core / Allied Health profession)
Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service (BWS) is an expanding IAPT service. We consistently achieve excellent recovery and reliable improvement rates, due to our focus on delivering flexible packages of care, designed to meet patient needs.
We are looking for a RMH or other equivalent Core / Allied Health profession with Mental Health experience to assist the single point of entry into BWS in ensuring that new referrals into the service are suitably risk assessed and when BWS is not the most suitable service are referred to appropriate agencies. You will also be expected to provide support to clinicians with making appropriate referrals to secondary care mental health services and safeguarding teams. You will play a key role in enhancing interagency relationships and interface with these services.
East London NHS Foundation Trust also provides IAPT services in Newham and Tower Hamlets. The three services work together on joint projects, sharing good practice and opportunities for training.
Main duties of the job
- Working with Clinical team to make decisions on suitability ofnew referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols,and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or backto the referral agent as necessary.
- Post holder will work with senior clinicians when dealing withclients presenting with complex and/or needing multi agencyservices.
- Post holder will be clinician of the day and will be there to helpguide clinicians to make decisions on clients presenting withrisk.
- Communicate effectively clear plans for care with patients,service staff, referrers and staff from other ELFT services.
- Post holder will attend regular meetings with Secondary careCMHTs and crisis services and establish and build goodworking relationships between services.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential
- Registered Practitioner: MENTAL HEALTH NURSE (RMN) or other equivalent Core /Allied Health profession (e.g. RNLD OT or Social Worker with extensive secondary care mental health experience or PWP) with at least 1 year post qualification experience.
- Post qualification experience
- Experience of Liaising with other services regarding incoming and outgoing referrals
- Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Demonstrate high standards in written communication
- Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Has received training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
- Understanding of issues surrounding clinical risk
- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
- Health and MH services pathways and structures of NHS and relevant settings.
- Use of clinical data systems, e.g. RiO, IAPTus, EMIS, etc.
