A fantastic opportunity (0.6 FTE for a minimum 12 mth FTC contract ending March 24) has arisen for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist with experience of working in the NHS at a Band 6 , Post Covid Fatigue (PCF) experience is not essential. Post holder would work autonomously, applying their specialist skills and knowledge in the emerging area of PCF. The post holder will join the PCF arm of the well-established Bedfordshire Chronic Fatigue Service (CFS). The post holder will work alongside other specialist professionals, including Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy and Psychology. The service provides outpatient based, specialist MDT assessments and treatments for those PCF patients whose main symptoms are moderate to severe as well as those with more complex presentations. The service works in collaboration with the wider Post Covid pathway across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. The role would have a base at Mountbatten House in Dunstable, with an aim to establish clinics across the county. The post holder would be required to provide 9am-5pm minimum on a Tuesday in clinic and other days could be negotiable. The post holder will be well supported by colleagues within the specialist service and connected to other OTs working across BCHS (Bedfordshire Community Health Services). Main duties of the job

Patient Care
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary assessments, providing specialist physiotherapy treatment and liaising with other services as needed.

Clinical
  • Making clinical decisions to provide quality care

Administration
  • Maintaining up to date documentation on Systm1
  • Responsibility for ensuring patients move through the care pathway smoothly and efficiently.
  • Producing written reports and care plans to a high standard

Management
  • Deputising for senior therapists as required

Performance and Quality
  • Ensuring highest level of performance and Quality of care and documentation.

This is a mainly clinical role focused on providing high quality assessments and treatment as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for working autonomously with a caseload and for maintaining professional records, documentation and clinical reasoning related to these patients. You will be expected to contribute to multidisciplinary clinical decision making and formulation based on your assessment and to be able to communicate this decision to other medical and health professionals in linked teams. As this is a complex patient group your communication skills must be excellent both in written reports and face to face and remote consultation settings. Although we may offer some remote consultations the work is clinic based so you must be able to drive and have use of your own transport.

This team is always aiming for the best quality care and part of the role involves developing the care pathway and working with the team to identify areas of improvement. The whole team is involved in various areas of service development and your input will also be valued with this.

Person Specification Essential Essential
  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist
  • Grad. Diploma and or degree in Physiotherapy
  • At least 3 years experience work with patients as a Physiotherapist
  • Experience working with patient with long term conditions
  • Ability to work autonomously under pressure
  • Access to a car and ability to drive
  • Skill and ability to support patients with physical and mental health difficulties
Desirable
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • IT skills including experience of Systm One or other patient record systems
  • Broad range of clinical experience and relevant CPD
  • Experience in contributing to and working within an MDT
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) in different settings
