We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Psychotherapist to join our Eating Disorders Service. You will be joining a service of highly skilled and experienced staff covering the Liverpool and Sefton area and will be based at the team hub on the Rathbone Hospital site. Main duties of the job

To provide highly specialised psychotherapy services including the provision of specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area in which the postholder works.

Principle Responsibilities

Clinical:
  • To provide specialist psychological assessments of eating disorder clients based upon the appropriate use and interpretation of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care. Provide therapeutic assessments, formulations and clinical interventions for individuals and teams on a one-to-one or group basis as required following an overall plan detailed by the care pathway for the service.
  • To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems based on cognitive behavioural models, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions (therapy) for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, whilst adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by specialised, individualised psychologically based care plans
  • To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.
  • To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
  • To communicate, in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni- and multidisciplinary care.

    • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Nursing, social work, Allied Health Professional etc.) registered with NMC/HCPC.
    Desirable
    • o Further qualification in another therapeutic modality

    • Accreditation by a post graduate qualification body e.g., ACAT, BACP, BABCP - or working toward this and awaiting accreditation.
    Experience Essential
    • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical
    • A range of experience of delivering Therapy to adult clients with complex needs.
    • Knowledge of legislation in relation to client group
    • Expertise in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups.
    • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials
    • Experience of working and managing risk within community
    Desirable
    • Experience of working with clients with severe and enduring psychological difficulties
    • Experience of facilitating psychological group interventions
    • A sound understanding of the systemic factors underpinning working psychologically with teams
    • Experience in the provision of reflective practice sessions
    • Experience of working therapeutically with health or social care staff.
