This is a really exciting time to join Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as an Occupational Therapist.

The Dementia Rapid Response Team in South Derbyshire is looking for an enthusiastic, Band 6, Senior Occupational Therapist to join their friendly and supportive team, based at Albany House, Derby

Ideally, you will have recent and relevant experience of working with older adults with organic illness, preferably in a community setting.

The service focuses on providing support within people's own homes, working collaboratively with the service user, their family and other community services in order to avoid hospital admission.

The service operates 365 days a year, 8am-8pm, Monday-Friday and 9am-5pm, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist in the team, you will support patients who would benefit from occupational therapy intervention.
  • You will play a key role in delivering holistic, person-centred assessments and therapeutic interventions.
  • This will include offering clinical advice on the assessment and intervention of clients' occupational and functional needs.
  • Within the DRRT, Occupational Therapists are core to the team in providing non-pharmacological interventions, as part of the multi-disciplinary meeting.
  • Our therapy team currently consists of 1 band 6 OT, and an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • You will embrace the delivery of best practice guidelines for Dementia and Occupational Therapy.
  • You will need to be a dynamic clinician with good interpersonal skills to enable engagement of service users and their families or carers.
  • You will be able to make complex decisions, lead a shift, cover duty, formulate detailed assessments and person-centred care plans to assist in the prevention of hospital admissions.
  • Supporting students during their placement.
  • You must have a full, valid UK driving license and the means to travel around the community.
