An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at HMP Peterborough as the Lead of the Mental Health Team. We are looking for a highly motivated registered mental health nurse with both clinical and leadership skills. You will lead a multidisciplary team delivering mental health and perinatal mental health services.

HMP Peterborough is a local Category B prison. It is England's only dual purpose-built prison for men and women, including a mother and baby unit, who are kept separate at all times. The prison is located in the city of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, and accommodates up to 360 female and 868 adult male prisoners.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will provide leadership for the mental health team, including the implementation of systems and processes that will support service delivery and staff within the team

  • The post holder will lead the appraisal process within the team and facilitate all team processes that encompass all HR functions, including the monitoring of sickness absence and ensuring grievance and disciplinary matters are highlighted and addressed where appropriate
  • The post holder will ensure clinicians are supported to achieve commissioning targets and to develop, implement and evaluate service improvement plans within areas of responsibility
