This primary focus of the Specialist Occupational Therapist within the Mental Health Recovery Pathway is to provide a recovery focussed individualised approach across the pathway and through to commissioned services. The role will be to provide in depth functional assessments to define the support needs of individuals requiring placements within the community. The assessment and process is evidence based and will inform the provider of the support needs for each service user so that the provider offers individual interventions that can be reviewed and assist in a clear pathway of rehabilitation to optimise recovery and achieve outcomes based commissioning.
The OT will work across the pathway supervising and managing OT's across the Recovery teams, drawing on innovative models of practice, the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability (VdT MoCA) and CHIME, as the basis of developing recovery focussed interventions and providing training, supervision and support for providers. The OT role compliments the support of the Senior Management Team and will enhance the service user and carer experience. The role contributes to a multidisciplinary place-based model and will include building links with external agencies to work together in a collaborative approach to develop outcomes-based commissioning.
