Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Mental Health Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service Working across offender health, liaison and diversion services in court and custody. We are currently recruiting for Mental Health Practitioners (MHP) and colleagues who do not have the required 2 years post registration experience but have completed their perceptorship or equivalent are encouraged to apply and a band 5 to 6 development post will be considered.

CJLDT have a total of 11 criminal justice bases plus our trust and community bases.

You will work across courts systems and support custody environments as well as the wider mental health system. You will support the offender health agenda within this role

Main duties of the job

CJLDT is an integral part of the 24/7 Urgent Care Model and this is a great opportunity to support people of all ages with mental health problems, learning disabilities, substance misuse problems and other vulnerabilities who are identified and assessed as early as possible as they pass through the youth and adult criminal justice systems.

The role is to work specifically in CJL&D, within our service we have custody, courts, outreach and reconnect. This role is around assessment of mental health, formulation of care and needs and liaison and diversion for all people who come into contact with our service. We assess people with all vulnerabilities. The role is about proactive engagement to improve the health outcomes for all.

Person Specification Qualification Essential
  • Appropriate professional qualification including RMN , Social worker or Occupational Therapist
  • Evidence of post registration study / continuing professional development e.g. Mentorship in Practice
Desirable
  • Working towards master level education
Experience Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years post registration experience in mental health.
  • Evidence of leadership and management skills.
  • Evidence of experience of managing cases & case loads
  • Evidence of supervising staff
  • Ability to work autonomously across the organisation/boundaries and with other agencies
  • Experience of working in partnership with other agencies and service users and carers
  • Experience of audit/research and working knowledge of clinical governance.
  • Experience in change management and policy formulation.
  • Experience of using Incident Reporting Systems e.g. DATIX
  • Experience of undertaking and involvement in Serious Untoward Incident Reviews
  • Evidence of experience of working with a range of people with mental health problems in a variety of health care settings.
