This role entails both clinical and operational management duties

In conjunction with other members of the management team, to lead in the development and implementation of the CRHTT providing a high quality service to meet the needs of people in acute phases of mental illness, and their carers. To ensure the continued efficient and effective management of the team, providing leadership and supervision to a multi-disciplinary staff group.

The post holder will act in support of the CRHTT Manager, deputising and carrying out delegated roles, duties and responsibilities as required, as part of the Sector team Management structure

This postholder will carry responsibility for leading the CRHT Team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced clinician and a leader to join our busy and dynamic Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) based in Ware. The team undertakes urgent assessments of people with acute mental health problems as well as recovery focussed interventions as an alternative to admission.

The Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team (CRHTTs) and The Orchards /Glaxo within HPFT have under gone a period of re-modelling. Primarily driven by the NHS Long Term Plan, emphasising the need for improved access to crisis support and enhanced home treatment service users can now expect a joined up approach to enable service users to develop longer term coping strategies and relapse prevention techniques, as well being able to benefit from a more therapeutic approach when in crisis.

Our aim is to provide the right intervention at the right time and at the right place for people in crisis. To do this effectively the CRHTT workforce is more diverse with Occupational Therapists and Psychologists working alongside Nurses, Doctors, Social Workers and Support staff, to provide a more holistic Multi-Disciplinary approach in identifying and offering crisis interventions and home treatment.

Job description Job responsibilities

You will work closely with Glaxo CRHTT (formerly known as the Acute Day Treatment Units(ADTU) as they are an integral part of the crisis pathway offering an alternative to admission; facilitate early discharges and provide an alternative environment to carry out an assessment for people in crisis and can be accessed between 9 am-6 pm, seven days a week. We also work closely with the host families and crisis Beds/Nightlight operated by MIND Herts to support service users waiting for informal inpatient beds.

• RMN/RN (MH) Or CQSW/Dip SW Or SROT (DipCOT/Bs OT)

Desirable

• Cert or Dip in Management
• Relevant skills-based training
• BSc Community Specialist Practitioner, Graduate Specialist MHL training

Experience Essential

• Significant and relevant experience of working with people with acute mental illness
• Multi-professional working/case management
• Service development and Change Management
• Contributing to Operational Policy
• Bio-Psycho-social models of care
• Knowledge of physical health contributions to Mental Health issues, difficulties and assessment
• Significant experience of community-focused care

Desirable

• Management/leadership of a multi-professional service
• Experience of working in Crisis Resolution/Home Treatment Services or Mental Health Liaison Services
• Multi-disciplinary management experience

Job related aptitude and skills Essential

• Clear understanding of aims and processes of Crisis Resolution/ Home Treatment within the context of Community and Acute Mental Health provision
• An understanding of the needs of people with acute mental health problems
• The ability to provide and implement an appropriate needs-led assessment
• The ability to lead a multiprofessional team and provide ongoing operational, clinical and professional supervision
• Budget and resource management
• Complex knowledge of legislation and policy regarding the provision of Mental Health care/services and other relevant legislation
• Able to establish and maintain effective links with statutory and non-statutory agencies
• Practice skills and knowledge applicable in an acute community setting.
