AWP are investing in additional resources for our Specialised Eating Disorder Service and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for improving access and the quality of care for people with eating disorders.

An exciting and developmental career opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced and skilled Clinical Psychologist to join the Specialist Community Eating Disorder Service.

The community eating disorder team is a welcoming and compassionate team which is undergoing a range of changes as part of current national and regional developments, which will provide opportunities for leadership and innovation.

You will
  • have significant post qualification experience and an interest of working with people living with an eating disorder.
  • work closely with the MDT as well as providing a resource around the assessment, treatment and support of people living with eating disorders throughout AWP.
  • provide expert clinical supervision to clinicians within the eating disorder team. They will provide specialist psychologically treatments for users of the eating disorder community service, as well as have some input to the STEPS inpatient service. Specialist supervision will be available.

Main duties of the job

You will provide
  • psychological input to the community eating disorder service and if needed to the eating disorder inpatient unit.
  • lead in the provision of high quality evidence-based psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for our community patients.
  • You will provide either direct individual or group treatments for service users, and/or provide supervision and training to other staff, enabling the provision of high quality psychologically informed practice and support within the team.
  • support the trust ambition for all services to become trauma informed.
  • work with families of service users, providing some family support, as appropriate.
  • be part of the multidisciplinary team, facilitating the integration of a psychological perspective into the team's understanding of the clinical issues. This may include providing consultation to other professionals, especially where there are ambiguities around diagnosis, formulation and care.
  • provide training and reflective practice forums to support the professional development of their teams, and will supervise other disciplines in the provision of high quality psychological interventions.
  • take a lead role in service evaluation or research projects relevant to the community team.
  • undertake regular clinical supervision, and will have regular contact with the principle clinical psychologist in the eating disorder community team for clinical supervision.
  • attend training and CPD events as appropriate to their role

The post holder will provide psychological input to the STEPS community service and if needed to the eating disorder inpatient unit.

One of the central roles will be to lead in the provision of high quality evidence-based psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for our community patients. Most service users will have a diagnosis of either anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa. In addition, service users may have other mental health needs, such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, personality disorder or an autistic spectrum disorder. The post holder will provide either direct individual or group treatments for service users, and/or provide supervision and training to other staff, enabling the provision of high quality psychologically informed practice and support within the team. The post holder will support the trust ambition for all services to become trauma informed.

The post holder may also work with families of service users, providing some family support, as appropriate.
