The Neurodevelopmental Team at Bradford is seeking motivated and confident Nurse Prescriber/ANPs who can lead on the referral pathway for the ADHD pathway within the Neurodevelopmental Team.
The successful candidate will help to ensure that young people effectively managed during their consideration for mediation, including pre-medication checks, titration and monitoring.

Main duties of the job
ADHD Nurse Specialists (ANP) provide clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation, planning and prescribing for young people diagnosed with ADHD.
To carry out physical checks prior to prescribing. Initiation and monitoring of ADHD medication, and also other medication where necessary. To work with other members of the team to manage and monitor the caseload of the ADHD medication list.
Working within the community, ADHD Nurse Specialists provide face-to-face assessments working closely with other CAMHS teams, mental health services and other agencies.

Job description Job responsibilities
- Initiation, prescribing and monitoring of ADHD medication, including heart checks, and other physical observations (blood pressure, pulse, height and weight)
- Prescribing of other medication in relation to the needs of the client group
- Ensure effective transition from CAMHS to adult services for ADHD medication monitoring
- Provide evidence based clinical interventions, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
- Responsibility for the development, planning and implementation of care and treatment interventions for individual patients within CAMHS.
- Provide assessment, planning and implementation of individual packages of care and treatment.
- Undertake clinical risk assessments, based on latest empirical evidence and compliant with local policies and procedures.
- Prescribe medications within best practice guidance and according to NMC guidance, receiving and reviewing prescribing practice information with Prescribing Clinical lead.
- Review medication, optimise patient concordance and reduce polypharmacy.
- Act as the patients and relatives advocate.
- Champion patients rights, including: dignity, equality, diversity, choice and respect.
- When undertaking all of the above ensure good documentation is provided and entered within the appropriate systems of record sharing.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- o RN 1st Level.
- o Mental Health Nurse Qualification.
- o Current NMC Registration
- o Evidence of continuing professional development
- o Independent Nurse Prescriber
- o Undertaken/working towards accredited courses which enable potential Advanced Practitioner registration
- o Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience
- o Clinical supervision qualification
- o Undertaken modules that support an Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification in mental health
- o Leadership qualification/training
- Post Graduate level education in psychological therapy.
- Mental health care/treatment relevant to service.
- Working with people/children with ADHD
- Teaching, training and/or supervision of clinical staff.
