We have a vacancy for a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our diverse and multi disciplinary Sandwell CAMHS team and are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team.

Main duties of the job

As a Psychologist working in Sandwell CAMHS you will have regular access to supervision and contact with other psychologists, and the opportunities to develop skills as a supervisor in your own right. The appropriate resources will be provided to ensure duties within this post can be undertaken.

Our CAMHS Service is a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, specialist nurses, systemic, child and art psychotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and psychiatrists, who are passionate in their aim to work with children, young people and their families in developing creative solutions to improve their mental health difficulties.

The post-holder will be joining a supportive and forward-thinking team who pride themselves on their commitment to the continual development and improvement of patient care. Clinical and leadership supervision, and continuing professional development, are highly valued. Additionally, there are opportunities to join peer supervision and other groups.

The post holder will have opportunities for personal support and development via the Trust appraisal system.

Job description
Job responsibilities

To complete CAMHS initial assessments and hold a caseload.

To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to clients across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues within and outside the CAMHS network of services.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within services for children in Sandwell.

To provide specialist advice and consultancy to other professionals working in CAMHS and external stakeholders.

Eduation
Essential
  • oHPC Registration as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or immediate eligibility

Desirable
  • oDBT Trained
  • Experience of CAMHS

Skills and Abilities
Essential
  • oSpecialist skills and knowledge in the use of systemic, parenting and behavioural assessment and treatment of individual, couples and family systems/groups.
  • oSkills and knowledge in using social learning and systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
  • oSkills and knowledge in using social learning and systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting
  • oExperience or working with family systems where children have emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties
  • oExperience of working with troubled children using a behavioural approach
