We are looking for a creative, innovative and enthusiastic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join Haringey Community Services. The post is split between the Psychological Therapies (PT) Pathway and Mood Anxiety and Personality Disorder (MAP) Pathway.

The MAP Pathway

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a reflective, creative psychologically-led MDT. MAP is an innovative service in the treatment of complex anxiety and depression (with underlying Cluster C PD traits). MAP focuses on understanding and working with the relational patterns underlying anxiety and depression. It is situated the Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) Service along with the complex PTSD Pathway and the PD Pathway (for Cluster B PD presentations).

The PT Pathway

The PT Pathway is a psychological therapies hub that offers outpatient psychological therapies across the three Core Teams at Step 4 of the Stepped Care Model (as defined by NICE guidelines). Individual and group psychological therapies are offered in a range of models (CBT, CAT, Schema Therapy, Family Therapy and psychodynamic). We have over 20 Psychologists and Psychological Therapists working within adult mental health. Part of your role will involve delivering Trauma-Informed individual and/or group therapy, psychological assessments, consultation to non-psychology colleagues and supervision. We believe in the importance of supervision, development and providing nurturing and supportive networks to allow Psychologists to grow.

Main duties of the job

MAP Pathway

The pathway has developed innovative ways of working with complex anxiety and depression presentations, involving formal brief interventions (e.g. Behavioural Activation, Anxiety management), a range of group interventions and Key-Clinician sessions (based on psychological formulation). It is a small, contained, team staffed by Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, and Assistant Psychologists. An aptitude and interest to work collaboratively and respectfully in multidisciplinary teams is thus essential. This role will involve facilitating and delivering the MAP group programme, psychological formulation sessions, and service development. The MAP Pathway is focused on research and publicising more widely on the service model and outcomes. Models used within the pathway range from CAT, Schema, DBT, psychodynamic, Systemic and CBT (including 3rd wave approaches). The overall framework for the service is provided by Schema Focussed Therapy which provides theoretical coherence.

PT Pathway

Within the PT Pathway, you will have a small caseload of clients for individual therapy, you will run one of the therapeutic groups offered in the service, and conduct high quality, trauma-informed assessments to develop a person-centred treatment plan for service users. In addition, you will have opportunities for non-direct clinical work such as offering supervision, providing consultation, contributing to audits and taking on duties to improve your leadership skills.

About us

The post is within Haringey Adult Mental Health, Community Services

The MAP Pathway

MAP patients present as withdrawn, isolated, lonely, limited in their functioning and have multiple social and psychological needs. The aim of the team is to help increase people's emotional, social and practical functioning, so they can engage better with relationships and meaningful activity outside of services.

The PT Pathway

The PT Pathway is located in the three core teams in Haringey (East, Central, and West). The core teams are MDTs which triage all referrals into secondary care in Haringey and treat a large proportion of service users referred. The PT Pathway offers a range of high quality, individual, and group based therapies for people who do not require full MDT care. The interventions offered in the PT pathway are in a range of models including CAT, CBT, psychodynamic, and group therapies. There is flexibility to develop your own therapeutic interests in the PT pathway and you will receive high quality, model specific, supervision.

Haringey

Haringey is a vibrant borough with a very diverse population, and so offers an opportunity to work with people from a range of different backgrounds and communities. Interest and experience in working flexibly, and in a culturally informed way, is certainly desirable.

The MAP and PT pathways are both based at St Ann's. Most of our patients are seen at St Ann's but some limited home visits may be required.
