We are looking for a Specialist Occupational Therapist with a passion for high quality care to work within Northamptonshire Foundation NHS Trusts Intermediate Care Team (ICT).

The post holder is expected to provide skilled Occupational Therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. The Post holder will hold responsibility for a caseload, working closely with colleagues in both our acute and community hospitals to facilitate timely discharges from hospital.

Main duties of the job

Working life

As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you'll
  • Develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme for patients.
  • Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
  • Support staff in identifying and developing their knowledge and skills
  • Act as a fieldwork educator for Occupational Therapy students

The Intermediate Care Team aims to provide an excellent standard of care which normally lasts no more than two weeks. This means we give an assessment, treatment, and monitoring to support people with complex, difficult, and reoccurring health care needs. Our patients might be at home, in hospital, or in A&E. We give our patients a care plan that's specific to them. We know we've done our job well when people can live in their own homes or independently after they've been ill or injured.

You will be working in a multidisciplinary team that includes consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, rehabilitation technicians and Administrative Staff.

The teams operate 7 days a week ensuring the delivery of the service can react to the patients' needs as and when required. The shifts for the service are between 8:30am - 18:00pm across , including weekend and bank holiday working as part of the rota.
