EPUT is currently developing a more comprehensive pathway for clients experiencing personality disorders. We are developing integrated interventions across community, primary care and secondary care services. This is a major transformation in service delivery and an exciting opportunity to join a progressing and developing service.

Main duties of the job

The Personality Disorder and Complex Needs Pathway is looking to recruit two Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists to join a team of dynamic and experienced clinicians who provide psychotherapy to clients on this pathway. This will include providing psychotherapy, assessment, consultation and treatment plans to clients who experience severe emotional disturbance often with a history of trauma and complex needs. The successful psychotherapy candidate will need to be able to work in a multidisciplinary setting and support colleagues across this pathway. There is a good skill mix across the pathway including psychology, OT, psycho-social nursing and CMHT support. The psychotherapy provision includes individual and group psychodynamic psychotherapy, art psychotherapy, Mentalization Based Therapy and systemic family therapy. The psychotherapy delivery is embedded in this pathway. The medical psychotherapist will be providing expert supervision; additional supervision for the specialism is supported. Continued professional development is encouraged.

Job description Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will need to have experience working with this client group. In addition to being able to provide psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy appropriately to this client group, the post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues, attending appropriate multi agency treatment planning meetings, managing risk, reviewing treatment, attending supervision and in turn be able to support colleagues working with this client group by providing supervision or reflective practice space. Experience in providing MBT interventions or a willingness to develop these skills is desirable. As a senior post holder you will be responsible for leading on the use of outcome measures and other tasks that support the effective management of the service.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a trauma informed approach in all their interactions with colleagues and clients. Person Specification Knowledge Essential

• Knowledge of different pathways of care in terms of mental health provision in statutory and voluntary sectors.

Desirable

• Comprehensive knowledge of theory, that gives a clear and coherent understanding of psychological development and psychopathology.
• Understanding of trauma informed care.

Skills/Experience Essential

• Experience in providing highly specialist psychodynamic psychotherapy.
• Experience in performing operational tasks as required for the function of the service including: data, audit, contributing to outcome measures, attending service wide operational meetings and induction of new staff, honorary therapists or students.
