We are delighted to have funding for a further 12 months for the Children's Long Covid Service. As a new service established in June 2021, we have been able to show throughout outcomes measures that receiving support from this MDT service has made a real difference to the children & young people suffering with Long Covid. We have an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team Children's Long Covid Service. The case load is working with predominantly adolescents.

Throughout the Covid 19 pandemic it has become increasing evident that a small number of children and young people have contracted Covid-19 & are suffering with Long Covid. The main symptoms being fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, pain and breathing issues.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Children's Long Covid Pathway has been set up for offer physical, functional, cognitive & psychological assessments with the aim of improving health outcomes and quality of life for those individuals who continue to experience persistent symptoms 12 weeks from initial illness. Hours worked can be as additional hours or as part of a secondment role (we have funding to backfill your hours).

We are looking for a PWP who is able to provide low-intensity CBT interventions & implement positive change to the children/young people experiencing low mood and anxiety and generalist advice for sleep disorders & health lifestyle choices.

Main duties of the job

*To undertake skilled assessment using advanced clinical reasoning skills and a variety of assessment techniques to provide accurate diagnosis.

*Assessing patients through primarily virtual means independently. Some face to face consultations maybe required and requiring travel to sites across Hampshire.

*Agreeing goal orientated programmes in conjunction with the client, his/her family and other professionals involved and planning and implementing appropriate intervention.

*Manage own caseload using specialist knowledge and skills as an autonomous practitioner, including maintenance of comprehensive records.

*To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable as an autonomous practitioner for all aspects of your own professional activities, to carry a clinical caseload of patients for whom you are responsible.

*To keep up to date with evidence base, current national and developments and utilise this knowledge and best practice.

*To maintain a high-level clinical skill set within the team to ensure high quality and compassionate care for all patients.

*To ensure all care delivered empowers patients to recover their independence at the earliest opportunity.

Job description Job responsibilities

*The post holder will provide assessment and evidence based low-intensity CBT interventions to children and young people with Long Covid Syndrome and may extend to also those suffering from Chronic Fatigue.

*To take a role in the specialist psychology intervention to patients as part of the specialist team, assessing and treating own caseload of patients who may have a complex presentation and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner.

*This will include specialist interventions to address fatigue, chronic pain, anxiety and depression and generalist advice for sleep disorders and health lifestyle choices. Support to the wider Integrated Care System through liaison and teaching to local services, including therapy teams and education settings.

*Undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and participate in research and audit.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Professional UK registration eg: BABCP/BACP Registered.
  • Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study or employment experience.
  • PWP Post Graduate Qualification.
  • Evidence or portfolio of post graduate continued development.
Experience Essential
  • Experience of staff supervision and mentorship.
  • Awareness of local and national agenda within the speciality.
Desirable
  • Experience of project management for policy development.
