We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, specialising in eating disorders.

Main duties of the job

This is a newly expanded, multi-disciplinary team which provides specialist CAMHS input to children and young people with eating disorders. It provides home-based treatment, out-patient treatment and gate-keeps referrals to in-patient services. The range of care includes intensive home-based support for high risk cases; community based support to provide early intervention to all ED cases; specific ED based therapy working on recovery (including CBT-E, MET, CRT, and family therapy using Maudsley model; psychiatric monitoring and intervention when required).

Job description Job responsibilities

Duties include, but not exclusive to:
  • To work closely with the multidisciplinary team and the consultants in the team to provide psychiatric component of the CAMHS tier 3 service to the under 18 population in the Eating Disorder CAMHS Team.
  • To provide mental health assessments on both new referrals and open cases, and continuing medication and mental state reviews as per the agreed allocation.
  • To offer medical input and guidance to clinicians conducting the physical health monitoring clinics.
  • To support the outreach work the team is offering when SU are admitted to medical wards in WGH and LH


  • Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • MBBS or equivalent
    • Full GMC Registration
    • Section 12
    • MRCPsych or equivalent
    Experience, Skills & Knowledge Essential
    • 3 years or more post MBBS
    • 2 years or more experience working in Psychiatry
    • Previous experience of working in a child and adolescent service.
    • Experience of working in a multi- disciplinary team.
    Transport Essential
    • Car Driver (unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995)
    Personal Abilities Essential
    • Ability to work conscientiously and complete all tasks in a timely fashion
    • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and boundaries with young people
    • Ability to learn and develop new skills needed for the post
    • Ability to think clearly and express self
    • Ability to assess reports and clinical information and provide clear and concise information tailored for different audience
