Band 7 Clinical Team Leader

Based at Swanswell Point, Stoney Stanton Road, Coventry.

Do you want to be part of a brand-new service as part of Coventry and Warwickshire's Transformation of Community Mental Health Services?

This is truly an unique opportunity to be at the helm, lead, manage and develop our first ever forensic team in mental health in Coventry and Warwickshire.

We are developing a new team to work with patients who have mental health needs with associated forensic risks.

The team will aim are to support those with a history of being in prison or secure services and doing preventative work for those at risk of prison or secure services due to their mental health.

The service is being developed in conjunction with health, social care, statutory and voluntary sector partners to have an integrated service with partnership working.

Our new team is taking shape, and we want this to be an integrated multi-agency and multi-disciplinary service. We are currently proposing a model of OT, Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Worker, Voluntary sector, support workers, peer workers as well as dual diagnosis specialists around substance misuse and a social care funded autism post that will support the team.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will initially work within the Coventry Recovery Team whilst the team is developing and will move over to the new Forensic service when it is established fully in 2023. The team will work across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The role will have the expectation of not only leading and managing the team, but will also having a small clinical component.

You will work alongside managers clinical leads to develop the service and begin to pick up a specific relevant clinical caseload. You will also be in charge of developing the model of practice, evidence based interventions and outcome monitoring as well as liaising with other agencies such as MAPPA, Ministry of Justice, probation, police etc.

You will also be part of the wider management team across community mental health and will participate in roles such as complaint management and investigation, management of serious incidents, clinical audit, safety and quality forums, CQC preparation etc.

You will have access to the existing forensic specialist risk and formulation groups that take place within the Recovery Team and will be supported by the team managers and locality manager. A training plan will be put in place for the team, the successful applicant will support the development of this.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Relevant Professional Qualification
  • Training in working with people who are experiencing mental ill health.
  • Post graduate learning to Masters level or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of Forensic Mental Health care or willingness to learn.
  • Current Registration with relevant professional body with unrestricted practice
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Knowledge and skills Essential
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Effective organisational and delegation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply in depth understanding of policies, procedures and legal frame works

Experience Essential
  • Significant experience and competence in working in working in a community setting with people experiencing mental ill health.

  • Significant experience of risk assessment and positive risk management
