We are seeking a motivated Consultant to join our Recovery Team in Sheffield.

The recovery teams have a caseload of approximately 1,000 patients each. Two thirds of patients are under active recovery, and have a care co-ordinator overseeing multidisciplinary treatment. One third of patients are managed under a caseload management system, which aims to deliver a lower level of support to a large number of people. A duty team, staffed on a rotational basis, supports patients who are in crisis and those with acute and short-term needs.

Recovery Service North, based at Northlands Health Centre, is a community health team, which provides treatment and care to adults living in the North of Sheffield, who have complex mental health needs. The patients we care for include those with psychotic disorders, severe affective disorders and personality disorders, as well as patients with co-morbid organic and/or neurodevelopmental diagnoses. We provide person-centred care that is strengths based, trauma informed, evidence-based and multidisciplinary.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide medical leadership to the Recovery team, including frequent/regular meetings with senior clinical staff to plan/co-ordinate team workload
  • Attendance/leadership of MDT meetings
  • Attendance and participation in team governance and team development meetings
  • Contribution to the CPA process for patient management, including regular liaison with care co-ordinators
  • Provision of medical/psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk assessment, by regular clinic sessions and flexible use of clinical time
  • Formulation and delivery of appropriate pharmacological and psychological interventions
  • Assessment and management of people subject to the Mental Health Act
  • Assessment and management of people subject to the Mental Capacity Act
  • Completion of administrative tasks related to clinical responsibilities
  • Liaison and advice to the locality general practitioners
  • Liaison with other consultants and other colleagues in community services and inpatient wards
  • Participation in the citywide daytime Section 12 rota and citywide out of hours call rota
