The BDCFT Virtual Centre for Clinical Education and Professional Development is excited to offer a 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity ( to cover maternity leave).
The Practice Education for Learning Disability services will support the trust to deliver a robust locally delivered education and pastoral support for defined staff groups and learners within the practice learning environment. They will be required to
Main duties of the job
To support Bradford District Care Trust to deliver a robust locally delivered education and pastoral support for defined staff groups and learners within the Learning Disability practice learning environment. To also work under the directive of LD Workforce Leads (Health Education England) and network across the ICB when engaging in wider workstreams eg LD nurse ambassador visits to schools/college and recruitment and retention pieces.
The Practice Educator role will sit within the Virtual Centre for Clinical Education and Professional Development. This is an innovative and proactive team who are committed and passionate around the education, development and pastoral care for the current and future workforce.

The Practice Education for Learning Disability services will support the trust to deliver a robust locally delivered education and pastoral support for defined staff groups and learners within the practice learning environment. They will be required to
- Develop and facilitate a refreshed, tailored, blended programme of face to face, on-line learning and clinical skills teaching for each set of learners
- Support the locally delivered preceptorship pathway
- Develop and facilitate peer support networks/safe and supported sessions for students/apprentices and newly qualified nurses/nursing associates
- Ensure live register of training provided and attendees
- Provide frequent pastoral support on group/individual basis
- The post holder will also support Health Education England as a Learning Disability Champion (2 days per week) to link with a range of stakeholders and be a consistent source of support across the integrated care system.
- The LD Champion workstream will require links with the general public, student nurses, learning disability nursing teams in inpatient, community and primary care, HEIs offering learning disability nursing training and also schools and colleges to promote the role of learning disability nursing as a rewarding career choice.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Registered Learning Disability nurse qualification with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience
- Active NMC registration
- Recognised teaching and assessing qualification/experience of being a mentor/practice supervisor and practice assessor to pre registration student nurses
- Experience of facilitating group and individual learning sessions and assessing the effectiveness of teaching delivered and knowledge and skills acquisition experience of presenting material to a range of learners
