This post is situated within the Learning Disability and Neuro Developmental Team (LDND) at Greenwich CAMHS but with the expectation to also input into Greenwich CAMHS-wide Family Therapy provision. The post holder will provide a psychotherapeutic service to CAMHS clients across all sectors of care; providing highly specialist assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to professional colleagues and networks (such as other health professionals, schools, social services, voluntary organisations etc), families / carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

The aim of the post is to effectively assess presenting difficulties of children and families accessing CAMHS, make recommendations for treatment where needed and provide evidence-based interventions within a multi-disciplinary context.

Main duties of the job

Key Clinical Duties

1. To provide a specialist systemic assessment of referrals of a significant and complex nature in order to formulate and implement plans for the treatment and/or management of a child's or adolescent's with mental health problems and additional LDND, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods based upon evidence. To use routine outcome measures as laid down by the Trust

2. To provide specialist consultation, advice and guidance to other professionals at all levels working with families both within the service and in partner agencies such as those involved with highly complex, emotive and often conflictual issues such as those involving child protection, deliberate self-harm, violence, trauma, suicide risk, criminal offending behaviour, sexualised behaviour, and mental health problems of parents.

3. To input into Greenwich CAMHS In reach programme via provision of consultations / Trainings / Evidence based intervention such as adapted NVR into identified SEN schools / educational settings and social services.

4. To act as care coordinator, carrying an identified numbers of Care Coordination caseload of CYP.as required, taking responsibility for initiating, planning and review of care plans and giving consideration to the views of patients and network

5. To input into other team / service clinical tasks such as COD / Duty / CTT - Triage / Review / Building Covers etc as may be required.

Key Task and Responsibilities

1. To provide the team / service with a high quality, systemic psychotherapy service to children, their families, carers and professional networks, in keeping with CYP-IAPT principles. To provide a specialist systemic assessment of referrals of a significant and complex nature in order to formulate and implement plans for the treatment and/or management of a childs or adolescents with mental health problems and additional LDND, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods based upon evidence. To use routine outcome measures as laid down by the Trust.

2. To provide / input into specialist systemic assessment and therapy to families with CYP who are referred to Greenwich CAMHS via FT Clinics / Sessions.

3. To assess children, adolescents and their families as part of an initial assessment / risk assessment / Treatment Plan.

4. To provide specialist consultation, advice and guidance to other professionals at all levels working with families both within the service and in partner agencies. This will include liaison and working with professional networks involved with highly complex, emotive and often conflictual issues such as those involving child protection, deliberate self-harm, violence, trauma, suicide risk, criminal offending behaviour, sexualised behaviour, and mental health problems of parents.

5. To input into Greenwich CAMHS In reach programme via provision of consultations / Trainings / Evidence based intervention such as adapted NVR into identified SEN schools / educational settings and social services.

6. To act as care coordinator, carrying an identified numbers of Care Coordination caseload of CYP.as required, taking responsibility for initiating, planning and review of care plans and giving consideration to the views of patients, their family, carers, referring agents and other professionals involved in the network of care. This includes organising complex professional network meetings.

7. To input into other team / service clinical tasks such as COD / Duty / CTT - Triage / Review / Building Covers etc as may be required.

8. To provide specialist advice and consultation regarding diagnoses and treatment to CAMHS colleagues, external agencies, working autonomously within professional guidelines and within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to overall service delivery as required

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Masters or Doctorate level qualification in family / systemic psychotherapy
  • Skills and Experiences in LDND
  • 3 - 4 years post qualification
Desirable
  • Breakaway training or equivalent Non-violence resistance (NVR) approach knowledge and skills Multi-family group knowledge and skills
  • Experience of supervision
  • Multigroup knowledge and skills
Experience and Qualification Essential
  • At least 3 - 4 years in LDND CAMHS mental health setting or other similar settings
  • Masters or Doctorate level of Qualification in family / systemic psychotherapy
Desirable
  • Breakaway training or equivalent Non-violence resistance (NVR) approach knowledge and skills Multi-family group knowledge and skills
Experience of CAMHS or other mental health service Essential
  • Minimum of 3 - 4 years working with children and families in a relevant mental health or social welfare setting
  • minimum of 3 -4 years working in CAMHS setting or other MH Services
