Do you enjoy a clinically varied, rewarding, and challenging role? If so, then consider joining our well established Early Intervention in Psychosis service (PATH-Psychosis: Prevention, Assessment and Treatment in Hertfordshire). The PATH team are recruiting a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work within the East and North area Hertfordshire of our countywide service.

We are implementing the Access and Waiting Time Standard for early intervention in psychosis (EIP), which is a clear national priority for the NHS. This standard will make a major difference to the quality of care received by those with First Episode Psychosis (FEP) and greatly improve their ability to recover. This is the start of our journey in ensuring our service users receive the right treatment at the right time from an EIP service and can go on to lead full, hopeful and productive lives. Psychological interventions are key element within that recovery journey.

This post is suitable for a Band 7 or Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who has keen interest in psychosis. Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with significant experience working with individuals with psychoses, including having relevant training in CBTp and/or FI can be appointed directly into Band 8a.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and be skilled in working with recovery based and collaborative approaches to care planning, working flexibly and creatively with people in order to achieve their individual goals. Main responsibilities include good governance of psychological therapies for people with psychosis, providing assessment, therapy, supervision and consultation. An important part of this role is effective data collection to evidence the efficacy of psychological interventions. It is anticipated that this post holder will work with people accessing the service withinSouthWestHertfordshire, but there may be a requirement to work more widely across Hertfordshire to develop and deliver the service.

Regarding specialist professional development, PATH has close links with other Early Intervention services. The team is part of the East of England Early Intervention in Psychosis Clinical Network. Hence, there are opportunities to meet other EIP professionals outside of the Trust and attend CPD sessions run by the group.
