An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team in Abingdon EMU on a part time basis up to 17 hours a week. EMU is fast paced and responsive to patient need. The team provide timely comprehensive and integrated assessments and interventions for adult patients with sub-acute urgent healthcare needs as an alternative to secondary care admission where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Abingdon EMU work closely with Witney EMU, Hospital at Home, the Rapid Access Care Unit (RACU) in Henley as part of the Oxford Health Ambulatory Care service. The unit provides high quality, responsive care with an 'ambulatory by default' approach to support the care closer to home agenda. The MDT team comprising of Medical Consultants, Nursing, and Allied Healthcare professionals work together with the patient to ensure a positive patient and relative experience.

The service operates 0800-2000hrs Monday to Friday and 1000-1600hrs weekends and Bank Holidays.

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
  • Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Professional Qualification (Degree or equivalent) HCPC Professional Registration
Desirable
  • Post graduate education specifically relating to client group or ambulatory care
Skills Essential
  • Good knowledge and skills in elderly care/rehabilitation
  • Understanding and experience of Risk Management
Experience Essential
  • Previous NHS or S&SC experience
  • Previous experience as a Band 5 or equivalent Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
  • A good working knowledge of rehabilitation and the ambulatory model of care
