The post holder will take a key leadership role and work closely with senior leaders in the CTMUHB Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Care Group to develop a service for adults in acute distress that is trauma informed. Applications are welcome from people keen to develop as a visible leader within mental health services. Request for part-time hours will be considered.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of psychological services to adults in acute distress in inpatient services and people who are supported via the CTMUHB Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams. The scope of this job description will involve ensuring the delivery of a specialist psychology provision and supporting the provision of multi-disciplinary care that psychologically informed. This will involve providing leadership, direct supervision and working with stakeholders to identify service priorities.
The post holder will join a team of senior psychologists within the MH&LD Care Group and professional development opportunities will be supported.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a senior clinical manager within the acute mental health services, offering line management to clinical and counselling psychologists, art psychotherapists and supporting training placements, to ensure a seamless provision of healthcare.
The post holder will be responsible for the recruitment of staff, providing and/or ensuring appropriate line management and supervision (professional and clinical) is in place for all members of the acute adult psychology specialty .
The role of the post holder will ensure compliance with clinical governance of the work delivered and play a strategic part in the development of the acute and CRHTT services. The role will include clinical work that will be delivered by establishing the psychological needs within the service and collecting evidence in relation to outcomes and added value with a view to service developments in that area. The clinical role will also involve consultation to other professionals, training, and multi-disciplinary work in relation to staff support.
The post holder will actively engage in service development and seek opportunities for developing a training and recruitment strategy to widen access for psychological therapies. This will include developing service proposals and funding bids for the Health Board, Welsh Government and other funding streams.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Psychology has been established in acute mental health services in CTMUHB for over ten years, and is valued by the wider multi-disciplinary team. - To lead as a senior clinician in the development of a high quality, evidence based, responsive and accessible psychology service for adults in acute distress, their families and carers, including advising both service and professional management on those aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.
- To manage delegated aspects of the budget and psychological resources available to the service.

Person Specification english Essential
- Doctoral, or equivalent, professional training in Clinical or counselling psychology
- significant supervised experience in adult mental health including complex cases
- HCPC registration
- Experience of multi-professional management
- Experience of planning and organising a broad range of complex activities and programmes.
- Demonstrates the ability to work constructively and collaboratively within teams.
- Experience of working as a qualified psychologist in senior positions involving supervision and service development. Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
