An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our All Wales NCEAT Service for a fixed term of 13 months full time, to cover maternity leave working with paediatrics. This will be based in South Wales (base to be confirmed). Carrying out this highly rewarding role, the successful applicant will have a good knowledge and understanding of AAC and will have some experience dealing with high tech communication aids and variety of language programs. The successful applicant will be assessing, trialling, reviewing and providing high tech devices to a wide range of children including those with ASD, learning disabilities, neurological conditions and other complex needs.
We are looking for self motivated applicants who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in this exciting and fast changing field.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term for 13 months to meet the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
To work independently and be accountable for one's own professional actions. To be responsible for providing a service to a highly specialist caseload of patients with complex and often rare medical conditions and be responsible for the assessment, development and implementation of highly specialist individual EAT Systems
To make independent clinical decisions, evaluate intervention outcomes and modify AAC programmes accordingly.

- To provide accessible information and advice to patients and their families.
- To adapt practice to meet individual patients' circumstances with due regard for cultural and linguistic differences.
- To provide highly specialist documented clinical reports at appropriate stages of the intervention process. This may include presenting clinical reports at multi-disciplinary meetings..
- To continuously evaluate own practice, ensuring that it is up to date, evidence based and compliant with UHB and professional guidelines.
- To manage clinical risk within patient caseload.
- To maintain comprehensive, accurate and up to date case notes which comply with legal, professional and UHB requirements.
- To develop and maintain and promote good working relationships at all times.
- To provide highly specialist advice and second opinions
- To seek second opinions and advice with regard to own caseload as necessary.
- To create and provide training where appropriate for carers, parents, SLTs and Teachers
