This is an exciting opportunity to join Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. The Clinical Lead position will be based on Cedar ward in West Park Hospital, Adult Acute Inpatient Services, 30 hours per week.

You will be required to have experience working with those with complex needs and work both autonomously and within a team making decisions based on comprehensive mental health and risk assessment.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to join the team who is recovery focussed and passionate regarding working with patients with mental health diagnosis. We are committed to delivering positive outcomes for patients on Cedar Ward.

To be responsible for the provision of excellence in clinical care, providing clinical leadership to the ward/unit team and promoting a culture of evidence-based practice.

To be professionally accountable and responsible for the standards of patient care on the ward/unit and, in accordance with out of hours responsibilities, within the designated locality.

Act as named nurse or care co-ordinator as appropriate.

To facilitate others in the team to develop competence by providing leadership, day to day supervision, clinical advice and clinical supervision to registered nurses, associate practitioners, healthcare assistants and students and to act as a role model displaying the Trust's values and behaviours towards both patients, carers and staff.

To be committed to and take a lead role in activities integral to the Trust's Quality Improvement System.

To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health and/or learning disabilities.

To promote at all times a positive image of the Inpatient Services and the wider Trust.

The psychiatric intensive care unit provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability or autism who may present with behaviours that challenge.

The ethos of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of assessments, treatment, intervention planning and rehabilitation to enable a person-centered recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • RNMH/RNLD, current professional registration with NMC.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education.
  • Recognised sign-off mentor or willingness to work towards. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
  • Leadership or management qualification
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area
Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience at a Band 5
  • Experience of Forensic services
  • Expoerience of working with Female MH and/or LD service users
Desirable
  • Quality Improvement System experience/qualification
Skills Essential
  • Working collaberatively with the MDT and service user
  • Supervision and mentorship
  • Care Programme Approach and its application in practice.
  • Mental health act and Mental Capacity act awareness and appplication in practice
