An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in our fully coproduced Trauma Informed Care (TIC) programme. You will work as part of the TIC programme to coproduce and deliver training for staff from a range of professional backgrounds and services.

This is an exciting an opportunity to help transform how organisations work for our staff and the people who use services. These are challenging times for every service and TIC is vital for us to be able to deliver high quality services to support our communities whilst looking after our staff.

You will be part of a cross-organisation project with Surrey Heartlands ICS, Frimley ICS and the Changing Futures Programme (includes NHS, social care and charitable organisations). The project aims to help services to work in a more trauma informed way, implement a locally developed TIC framework and codeliver a training and consultation programme to support the delivery and embedding of TIC principles across the organisations in Surrey and NE Hampshire.

Suitable for a Registered Psychologist or CBT Therapist, Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist. Main duties of the job

To work collaboratively with members of the TIC team and multi-disciplinary cross-organisation colleagues to coproduce a TIC training programme for staff working in health, social care and VCSE organisations across Surrey & NE Hampshire.

To co-facilitate delivery of the TIC training applicable for multiple organisations and staff roles.

To support the evaluation and reporting of the training outcomes. To support staff, services and organisaitons to embed TIC principles by offering guidance where appropriate.

To support a Community of Practice for TIC.

To work under the supervision of the TIC Leads.

Job description Job responsibilities

My job makes better lives by co-developing and co-facilitating Trauma Informed Care (TIC) training to staff working in health and social care across Surrey & NE Hampshire and supporting the development of Trauma Informed Practice. Consequently, improving the interactions with and recovery of all individuals who have contact with and who work within those services.

Job Overview: To work collaboratively with members of the TIC team and multi-disciplinary cross-organisation colleagues to coproduce a TIC training programme for staff working in health and social care and charitable organisations across Surrey & NE Hampshire. To co-facilitate delivery of the TIC training. To support the evaluation and reporting of the training outcomes. To support the system to embed TIC principles by offering guidance where appropriate. To support a Community of Practice for TIC. To work under the supervision of the TIC Leads. This role is a mix of remote and in person working.

Suitable for someone who is interested in and passionate about Trauma Informed ways of working and delivering high quality training that will benefit staff, the people who use our services and the people who care for them. Appropriate for a Clinical/health/Counselling psychologist, CBT therapist, OT, social worker or registered nurse.



Key Responsibilities

To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care. To maintain high standards of care in all areas of practice in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Trust Policies and Procedures. To act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005). To be aware of and implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies, Procedures and legislation.

Working alongside the Lived Experience Practitioner to:

  • Co-produce a modular TIC training programme and co-deliver relevant modules to staff within the remit of the project. This may include supporting the development of an e-learning package
  • Provide high quality training on TIC that can be accessed and understood by a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professionals. This includes adapting the training as appropriate to the needs of the group, using a variety of learning materials and managing group dynamics. The training may be face to face or virtual depending on restrictions and need
  • Develop resources to support the training
  • To undertake relevant literature reviews to inform the training
  • Support the TIC Leads in driving the adoption and embedding of the principles of trauma informed practice across the system, by providing guidance to participants in implementing TIC within their personal practice and their organisations, following training
  • Support a Community of Practice to allow sharing of learning and good practice
  • To work closely with the admin team to oversee the allocation of training places and organise the training
  • Support advertising of the training, including presenting to teams / organisations where appropriate
  • Work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary cross-organisation colleagues from across Surrey Heartlands and Frimley ICSs
  • To work with the Senior Clinical TIC Practitioner to evaluate the training programme and report on outcomes
  • Attend regular supervision in line with professional and Trust guidance
  • Link in with other TIC champions and groups across the Trust and ICSs
  • Support the promotion of the training
  • Attend relevant training/CPD to keep up to date with relevant literature and amend the training accordingly
  • Champion TIC in all areas of your work


Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Degree level in a relevant field e.g., Clinical/counselling/health psychology (NB doctorate required), nursing, social work, occupational therapy.
  • Additional training in trauma, TIC, teaching and / or facilitation (Desirable)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • - further qualifications in research/evaluation
  • - further qualifications in supervision
Experience Essential
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of TIC, the benefits of incorporating these principles into practice, and how to avoid re-traumatisation
  • Knowledge of and experience of working with mental health difficulties relevant to our Trust and services, including for staff
  • Experience of developing training
  • Experience of teaching and facilitating training, especially to groups and online
  • Experience of coproduction
Desirable
  • Experience of evaluating projects and measuring outcomes
  • Proficient in all Microsoft office programmes
  • Experience of relationship building with professionals from a variety of disciplines and with other organisations
