Fixed term temporary 12 month contract or secondment opportunity (remote only considered): 0.6 WTE Band 8b Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist Hull and East Riding - Neurodevelopmental Team

We are currently seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist who has experience working with children with neurodiversity and histories of trauma.

The post holder will have the opportunity to be part of the specialist assessments for neurodevelopmental conditions and interventions for children with neurodevelopmental difficulties. The role is available for a fixed period to cover for maternity leave, opportunities for flexible or remote only working will be considered, as would secondment for those applying internally. The role will include providing supervision and consultation to MDT members, consultations to other professions and other agencies alongside assessments of young people needing complex psychological formulation.

Main duties of the job

In the Neurodevelopmental Service you will join a busy team consisting of Nurses, Occupational Therapists, CBT therapist, Psychology and Psychiatry.

This is an exciting time to be joining the service due to the extensive transformation work being undertaken by not only our service, but also the wider Neurodiversity work within which our service sits. This is developing a multi-agency approach to meeting the needs of children with neurodiversity and their families. There is a commitment to ongoing staff training to enable practitioners to have accredited therapeutic and supervisory skills. We are also working towards having more participation from young people and their families in directing service development.

Person Specification Knowledge Essential

• Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion

Knowledge Essential

• Advanced/expert understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
• Knowledge of and experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools as applied in mental health work
• Skills in co-ordinating programmes of care, and providing consultation and specialist advice to other professional and non-professional groups
• Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, and application of this to research and development activity within the specialist service area

Desirable

• Broadly based knowledge of the theory and practice of advanced psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health difficulties)

Experience Essential

• Demonstrable experience of working as a clinical psychologist, to include a significant period of working at a senior level in the specific specialist field where the post is held
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups , across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings
• Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
• Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision

Desirable

• Proven leadership/management experience, able to demonstrate examples of positive impact/change within service delivery/practice at an advanced level
• Ability to work across team/organisational boundaries developing and maintaining multi-professional and multi-agency partnerships
• Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations, publishing

Qualifications Essential

• Post-graduate doctoral level of training in clinical psychology or its equivalent as accredited by the HCPC
• To hold and maintain current professional registration in line with HCPC
• Clinical supervision training for doctoral trainees
• Leadership/Management experience

Desirable

• Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
• Basic training in Clinical Psychology Management
