Band 7 Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our Continence and Pelvic Rehabilitation Service. This is an exciting time to be working as a pelvic health physiotherapist with opportunities to advance and broaden your skills and work with the team to develop an expanding service.

The ideal candidate will have been working in a women's health or pelvic health physiotherapy role for a minimum of 2 years and be motivated to continually develop their skills and knowledge within a changing environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide advanced assessment and treatment to patients with a range of pelvic floor dysfunctions or pelvic girdle pain.
  • Support patients with coping strategies and self-management.
  • Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team to improve symptoms and quality of life for our patients.
  • Commitment to personal development and sharing of knowledge with colleagues.
  • Work with service users via usergroups and other patient feedback tools with the aim to continually improve the service and ensure patients are at the forefront of any changes.

You will be working within a friendly multidisciplinary team with a supportive and caring work ethnic under the leadership of a clinical specialist physiotherapist. Your colleagues include adult and paediatric specialist nurses and an assistant practitioner.

Job description Job responsibilities

  • To assess and provide specialist treatment for patients with complex pelvic floor dysfunctions including incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, vaginismus, perineal tears and also women with pelvic girdle pain in the child bearing year.
  • Develop and deliver education and exercise classes including the management of antenatal pelvic girdle pain, pelvic floor muscle re-education and management of incontinence and other pelvic floor dysfunctions.
  • To work alongside other health care professionals to provide high quality care and support patients with self-management.
  • Participate in regular supervision and peer support.
  • Attend and contribute to the in-service training program.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects to make effective changes and service developments.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential
  • Physiotherapy Degree or equivalent
  • Registration with Health Professions Council
  • Documented evidence of relevant on-going professional development
Experience Essential
  • Minimum of two years' post qualifying experience in women's health physiotherapy
  • Experience of working in an NHS setting
Knowledge and Skills Essential
  • Ability to undertake all aspects of the physiotherapy process, including assess, manage and treat clients with complex multi pathologies at a specialist level
  • Ability to work, communicate and negotiate with a wide range of professionals as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to establish a therapeutic relationship with clients and their families/carers
  • Ability to apply specialist knowledge and skills in advising others on the care and treatment of clients in relation to specific specialism
