The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team across the Rise CAMHS pathways with responsibility for the care and treatment of referred children and their families. The post holder will be an expert practitioner and will assess children and young people referred to the service, as well as plan, implement and evaluate treatment whilst referring to other professionals both internally and externally as appropriate.

The post holder will also be a senior member of the Rise CAMHS pathways MDT and will provide expert clinical nursing advice and support to nurses and other professionals both within the service and other agencies. They will provide leadership through supervision to members of the nursing team as well as other CAMHS clinicians as appropriate.

Rise is a family of NHS-led services providing emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people in Coventry and Warwickshire. Rise aims to build resilience and empower children and young people (as well as the adults in their lives) to know where to go for help and advice.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess the current mental health needs of children and young people who are referred to CAMHS.
  • To offer expert clinical service to children young people and their families.
  • Gather and report on outcome data relating to health performance
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship for Band 6 staff and students on placements.
  • Contribute to key training and interventions regarding health issues to children, young people, colleagues and the wider network.
  • To participate in both clinical and managerial supervision essential part of clinical practice.
  • Liaise closely with team leaders and lead nurse to identify any unmet need.
  • To maintain an overview of caseloads within the CAMHS team and be aware of capacity, skills mix and training issues.
  • To help co-ordinate and actively participate in the bi-monthly nurses forum to support the required revalidation needs.
  • Ensure that nurses maintain their mentorship responsibilities.
  • To contribute to the training, supervision and assessment of student nurses on placement within the service.
  • To ensure that robust routine outcome measures are completed in line with the child/young person's needs and the service requirements.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Clinical qualification in either RMN/RCN/RNLD
  • Appropriate Post Registration qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health
  • Additional clinical qualifications eg CBT,DBT,EMDR
  • Appropriate Teaching qualification eg. ENB 998, Practice Teaching Experience
  • Evidence of post registration training to masters level or equivalent
  • Evidence of post registration leadership training
Knowledge and skills Essential
  • Knowledge of the range of young people's mental health problems and mental health services
  • Knowledge of recent changes and current issues in mental health service provision
  • Knowledge of a range of models currently used in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services
Experience Essential
  • Experience of collaborative multi-disciplinary and multi-agency work
  • Significant experience as a clinician in child & adolescent mental health services
Other Essential
  • Ability to travel independently in a timely manner
