Come join our Banbury Adult Mental Health Assessment Team.

We are looking for excellent RMNs or OTs who can transform the lives of people who are experiencing mental health problems. We are a friendly and dynamic Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT) based in the historic market town of Banbury, working across the beautiful north Oxfordshire countryside.

We are committed to providing thorough assessments, supporting and enabling the people using our service from diagnosis and intensive support, through to brief interventions and identifying support systems in the local community.

Main duties of the job

This role is open to candidates with post qualification experience either working in the community or on a ward.

You will need to be able to work autonomously, triaging and assessing individuals referred into the secondary care services, with a caseload of patients with whom you will engage and offer the recommended treatment and support.

You will have experience of CPA process and able to assess and plan treatment with service users. You will also be able to assess and manage risk, including use of Safeguarding processes

About us

There are opportunities for team working and facilitating groups such as MBT/CBT based interventions. The MDT consists of medics, psychological therapists, social workers, OTs, RMNs and support workers, as well as embedded workers from the third sector to support with employment, housing and social needs. In addition we have embedded Peer Support Workers within the teams to promote the power of lived experience and ensure that the gap between patient and clinician is bridged.

You will be supported by an experienced leadership team from across the professions who facilitate forums for Nursing and Occupational Therapists and hold your development as central. Claire and Jenny will actively support you to flourish in your role, with regular supervision and opportunities to enhance your clinical skills through post qualification learning.

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.

Person Specification Qualification Essential
  • Registered Professional Qualification (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapy or Social Work)
Desirable
  • Post graduate education specifically relating to client group (Post basic qualification in community care/ research awareness/ management)
Skills Essential
  • To have excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • To show evidence of sound problem solving skills
  • To have experience and be competent in Risk Management
  • Demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk assessment and management

  • To have relevant experience in community care and have specific clinical expertise in mental health
