This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join EPUT's expanding psychological services for parents and their infants.

We are pleased to offer an 0.6 wte 8a post for Rochford & Southend. There are opportunities to shape a role to meet part time and flexible working arrangements.

Following significant investment in psychology provision the service delivers high quality support and intervention to mothers, their infants and their families. PMHS consists of five perinatal hubs with a staff mix comprising of Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, OT, Social work and Nursery Nursing. The investment brings clinical pathways with maternity, health visiting, secondary care mental health services and primary care services to provide more streamlined, timely and effective care for mothers in the perinatal period.

Main duties of the job

Perinatal Psychology is a flourishing and exciting field to work in and there will be highly specialised trainings and supervisions available to the successful candidates. We would welcome candidates with prior perinatal experience but also welcome those who have an interest and are looking to develop their skills in perinatal approaches. There will also be consideration given to less experienced psychologists looking to develop the requisite skills and experience of an 8a banding through a preceptorship program.

There will significant opportunities to develop your supervision, teaching and consultation skills and to further develop the psychology service to meet the needs of mothers and their infants. Staff wellbeing is also highly valued and we are looking for candidates with experience of wellbeing initiatives to support the PMHS staff as they manage highly challenging caseloads with complex risk and safeguarding issues.

You will be expected to contribute to the development of Perinatal Psychology both within the trust and externally through attendance at CPD and network events. Participation in research and audit will be encouraged. You will be encouraged to develop a specialist clinical interest and continued professional development is strongly supported.

You will join a Psychology Directorate that has had significant investment and is led by a Clinical Director of Psychological Services providing robust governance and support of EPUT psychologists. EPUT Psychological Services provide extensive community Adult Mental Health, In-Patient, and EIP, Secure & Forensic, Clinical Health, Asperger's and Learning Disabilities services across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, so you will join an enthusiastic and diverse team of Clinical, Counselling and Forensic Psychologists, CBT therapists, and family systemic psychotherapists.

The Services enjoys good links with universities in Essex, Hertfordshire and London, Clinical research, teaching and specialised interests are actively encouraged.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • oDoctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the HCPC and BPS
Desirable
  • opost qualification training in a Trauma informed approaches e.g. oEMDR oDBT oCBT for Trauma oMBT
Experience Essential
  • Significant experience of working with mental health presentations
Desirable
  • Experience of working with complex psychological need such as Complex Trauma

  • Experience of psychological consultation with service MDT and external clinical services
