An opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking, enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to undertake a senior role for an innovative NHS Reablement Service.We need a dynamic, pro-active individual who can provide Senior Occupational Therapist for the team, therefore will provide comprehensive clinical leadership to all unqualified Community Health Care Support Workers (CHSW) and Band 6 Occupational Therapists within the service in order to delivery high quality support to Reablement, Continuing Care and Palliative Care clients in the community. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have clear decision making capabilities, and be able to effectively support and clinically lead a team. They will play an integral part in the development of the workforce and lead on all aspects of reablement competencies for non clinical staff. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the Senior Occupational Therapist for the team, therefore will provide comprehensive clinical leadership to all unqualified Community Health Care Support Workers (CHSW) and Band 6 Occupational Therapists within the service.

The post holder will provide a senior clinical role for the service by providing advice, guidance and sought appropriate training for CHSW's and OTs to embrace reablement.

The post holder will implement and monitor the principles of enabling support by incorporating the CHSW's competencies framework, and supervise band 6 OTs to do the same.

The post holder will seek operational direction from the Service Lead and Operational Manager to ensure a safe service is provided to patients.

The post holder will be required to work with all relevant stakeholders to support the delivery of enabling support in order to achieve and maximise client outcomes.

About us

Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust provides reablement support for inpatients at St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit (SPRU), for clients in Local Authority Residential Care and in clients' own homes twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Enabling support is needed across all day, evening and night shifts for patients/clients with rehabilitation and complex disability management needs.

  • To lead, promote and act as an effective role model to junior therapists and skill mix staff. Ensuring that high professional standards are kept throughout Camden Community Health Reablement service and contributing to relevant policy making
  • To supervise band 6 Occupational Therapists and support their induction and development
  • To support with line management and supervision of the Coordinators and CHSWs
  • To manage the clinical performance of Occupational therapists, Coordinators and the staff they line manage, ensuring all their interventions are commensurate with required competency, i.e. enablement competency and medication policy
  • To manage clinical risk and ensure Carelink staff comply to Trust policy and guidance, e. manual handling, risk assessment and local policy regarding lone working

Person Specification Education/Qualification Essential
  • BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent / HPC membership
  • HPC membership

  • MSc, management course or equivalent level of study

Experience/Ability Essential
  • Working at band 6 or above in Community rehabilitation
  • Use of standardised assessments and outcome measures
  • Experience of supervising and motivating staff
  • Previous experience in use of outcome measures
  • Demonstrate ability to set up and monitor standards of practice, care pathways and guidelines
  • Evidence of on-going and relevant CPD
  • Knowledge of the role of other professional groups
  • Evidence of working with other agencies, and an understanding of local services

  • Evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner in a community setting
