EDOS is a Welsh Government funded resource for South, East and West Wales CAMHS teams. It provides specialist consultation, supervision, training and treatment for the full range of eating disorder presentations in young people. The team offers multi-family group treatment and parent coaching both in a face to face context and remotely the geographical area offering opportunities for clinicians to have input to various ED teams/Health Boards .

The team is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to both continue the team's activities and also to expand into new clinically relevant areas such as ARFID.

EDOS is currently revising its provision and this post will contribute to a new re-invigorated team taking forward the demands that the pandemic has bequeathed to the eating disorder field.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for planning and co-ordinating the systematic provision of a highly specialist clinical psychology service within the Eating Disorder Service South Wales.

They will primarily offer a highly specialist psychological assessment, advice and consultation to CAMHS and sometimes non-CAMHS colleagues on the psychological care of young people with serious eating disorders. In addition and where necessary they will provide a highly specialist therapy service to referred young people alongside colleagues or singly.

They will hold lead responsibility within the EDOS for research and audit. They will also take a major role in the provision of training to CAMHS and Paediatric colleagues across the S. Wales area.

The post holder will work as part of the S. Wales EDOS but will be clinically autonomous and governed by Health Board policies, professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's own policies and procedures.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Post graduate doctorate in clinical psychology( or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment of child clients across the full range of care settings
Experience Essential
  • Direct experience of working with young people with serious eating disorder difficulties.
