An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 clinical lead to work across the Mental Health Service wards at Roseberry Park Hospital. The successful candidate will be highly motivated individuals who hold a current professional registration with the NMC. You will be professionally accountable and responsible for the delivery of clinical care within the ward team with the focus on positive behavioural support to patients.

This exciting and challenging role will afford the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team that is focused on delivering high standards of care through evidenced based practice. You will be in a key role within the team and alongside other members of the leadership team, ensuring the overall aims and purpose of the ward are clear and that patient safety is paramount.You will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care, and will be required to work rotational days and night shifts and also cover duty nurse co-ordinator as per rota.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be working with patients within our MHSOP Functional ward which is a 20 bedded mixed sex unit, providing clinical leadership to a core team of staff. The successful applicant should have a person centered values base, have skills in identifying strategies and plans for future care, maximizing individual's strengths and minimizing the impact of their needs on their daily lives.

You will need excellent communication skills and be calm, confident and resilient in your approach. You will need to be able to form therapeutic relationships with people with mental health needs. You will be joining a team of highly skilled and committed individuals and will become part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • RNMH/RNLD, current professional registration with NMC
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education.
  • Recognised sign-off mentor or willingness to work towards. Must be achieved within agreed timescale
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
  • Student assessor and sign off mentor
Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience at a Band 5 within inpatient environment.
  • Experience in clinical leadership
  • Experience of working with MH
Desirable
  • Quality Improvement System experience/qualification
Skills Essential
  • Working collaboratively with the MDT and service user
  • Supervision and mentorship
  • Care Programme Approach and its application in practice
