The appointee will play an integral role in further developing the service, teaching and training new team members and providing clinical and managerial leadership to the team. This role has become vacant due to the current post holder moving.

Main duties of the job

You will have a key role in a liaison/consultation model to provide early, easy access advice to GPs and the Primary Care Networks to support care of patients in the locality. You will also provide clinical leadership to the team in clinical multi-disciplinary team meetings and referrals meetings as well as being available for case discussions, advice and supervision within and outside team meetings. This will also include Mental Health Act Assessments, CTO reviews and supporting the duty function of the team with urgent concerns and assessments. You will have senior medical responsibility for the care carried out by the EIP team.

You will also facilitate smooth transitions into and out of the service through relationships with other relevant services.

About us

West London NHS Trust is one the most inclusive and diverse providers of NHS mental and physical health care in the UK. We deliver services in the community, inpatient, specialist and forensic (secure) settings, across 30 main sites. We are a teaching Trust with a growing research portfolio, working with academic and industry partners and promoting patient and public involvement in research. We care for more than 99,000 people every year, serving a local population of 850,000 in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

Our EIP team is a multidisciplinary community mental health service that provides treatment and support to people experiencing or at high risk of developing psychosis. This support typically continues for three years. The defining characteristic of an EIP team is its strong ethos of hope and whole-team commitment to enabling recovery through the provision of individually tailored, evidence-based interventions and support to service users and their families / carers.

The Trust has a commitment to and actively supports CPD activities. We know from other healthcare Trusts that strong clinical leadership improves patient care and staff engagement especially during times of service change. We have therefore recently reorganised the Trust into service lines, with a Clinical Director for each service line.
