An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and skilled Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join our busy Community Mental Health Team for Older Adults.

We are looking for someone who: enjoys and works well in a team setting and is also able to work independently; is committed to working with older people with mental health needs and is able to work effectively in this demanding role.

The team serves the population of the Furness Peninsula at the edge of the Lake District and has its base in Barrow-in-Furness. It is an established team with a friendly and supportive culture. There is a visible and supportive leadership team who are committed to clinical supervision and professional development.

Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide evidence based interventions, risk assessment and management to a broad range of people with functional and organic mental health needs. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs and be responsible for the clinical management of a defined caseload. You will also assist with the triaging and response to incoming queries and concerns.

  • Recognised Core Mental Health Professional Qualification (e.g. RMN/SW/OT)
  • Currently registered with professional regulating body
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions
  • Understanding of Care Programme Approach
  • Knowledge of current Mental Health policy/legislation
Experience Essential
  • Minimum of 18 months post registered experience
Skills Essential
  • Ability to work in partnership with service users, carers, advocates and other agencies and to liaise across professional boundaries
