A vacancy has arisen within the Adult Inpatient Services at Adferiad Unit based in St Cadocs Hospital. Adferiad provides assessment, treatment and stabilisation of patients within adult mental health. Adferiad is a 22-bedded acute mental health unit serving both Boroughs of Newport and Lower Monmouthshire for patients from the age of 18 years to 65 years. The unit works closely with the Home Treatment Team who gate keep admissions and facilitate the patients early discharge back to the community, also working with the two Community Mental Health teams, Assertive Outreach Team and Early Intervention Teams within both Boroughs. The unit also has a Section 136 suite.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality person-centred care; have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, carers and other professionals. A sound understanding of risk management and the Care Treatment Plan process is expected. You must be an excellent team player, have high levels of motivation and enthusiasm for working in a demanding but rewarding service. You will be joining a team that is passionate and focused on achieving excellence in care delivery, for this challenging and rewarding patient group.

The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly meeting the rational shift patterns covering a 24-hour period, have an interest in acute inpatient care and enjoy working in a busy challenging environment. PMVA training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of this role will consist of:

- Providing clinically effective and evidence-based nursing care to patients within an inpatient setting- Supervise the work of Junior staff- Carry out risk assessments and ensure the ward manager is aware of those who are at risk or vulnerable- Maintain and record up to date record of patient presentation
