We are looking for a Band 7 CAMHS Clinical Team Manager, based in Exeter, who can bring their skills, experience and enthusiasm to lead and manage others, meeting the needs of children and young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs.
You will provide line management and supervision, overseeing operational aspects of the service. You will need experience in clinical practice, managing risk in the community, supervision and operational line management, including HR processes. To meet the needs of children and families, your work may include some evening/weekend working through your contribution to the out-of-hours rota.
Working with other agencies, as part of a MDT, your role will be key to supporting and meeting the needs of some of our most vulnerable children and young people.
Using evidence based practice and routine outcome measures, you will use a strength-based approach to work collaboratively with people, in line with CYP-IAPT key principles.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working with children/young people in a community CAMHS setting with the confidence to intervene to meet a range of mental health needs and a desire to work to continually improve what we do.
You will be an experienced and qualified CAMHS professional and can demonstrate compassionate leadership which is fundamental in being able to undertake this role. You will be able to work with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team and develop relationships across agencies to meet the needs of children and families and have knowledge of child development and child protection procedures.
Managing staff will be a key component of the role with the ability to support others, oversee caseloads, and ensure the service responds in a timely way to urgent and routine, planned and unplanned need. You will be responsible for ensuring the service provides therapeutic intervention that is strengths-focused, evidence-based and tailored to meet the needs of the child/young person and their family/carer.

To provide day to day operational management of the provision of care and treatmentwithin a clinical pathway. To line manage a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians workingwithin the pathway. To provide specialist clinical interventions and advice as required.

Within this role the post holder will:
Provide effective collaborative leadership and day to day operational management ofthe clinical team
Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of evidence based clinical care includingtriage, assessment, clinical formulation and care planning, treatment, and discharge ofchildren and young people
Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with other clinical pathways within thelocality, health specialties and partner organisations across health, education, socialcare and the voluntary sector.
Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with children, young people and theirparents/ carers, ensuring their active participation is facilitated and feedback elicited,considered and acted-upon.
In partnership with the Operations Manager, ensure that clinical and non-clinical riskswithin the pathway are identified and managed effectively.
To maintain systems designed to monitor demand and maintain optimal clinicalcapacity within the team
To ensure data is captured and used to drive effective service delivery andimprovement
Work collaboratively with other leaders (professional, clinical and operational), tomaintain a culture within the service of excellence in clinical standards and safety.
Work with other Team Managers across the multi-agency system of childrens servicesin the locality to ensure the clinical pathway is delivered as part of an integrated systemof care, to improve health outcomes for children and young people.
Ensure clinical provision in the pathway is delivered to meet key performance targets
Ensure robust financial management of the teams activities
Provide supervision, operational management and support to clinicians with the abilityto demonstrate compassionate leadership, to understand and follow HR policies andprocedures, ensure staff wellbeing and development and adopt a collaborativeapproach to engage staff with a range of skills and communication needs.
Attend, participate and chair relevant meetings with the ability to present information ina range of formats, adapting communication to meet the needs of others.
To deputise for the Operations Manager as required.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Relevant professional qualification e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or other equivalent profession.
- Additional specialist training and qualification to post graduate diploma level or equivalent in supervision and/or leadership skills.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
- Evidence of relevant CPD.
- Additional specialist training and qualification to post graduate diploma level or equivalent in an evidence-based therapeutic approach.
- Knowledge of the provision of healthcare for children, young people and families within the NHS
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, NHS policy and other national policy relating to children and young people and its implications for area of specialty.
- Sound knowledge of health presentations in children and young people and the practice of clinical interventions within area of specialty
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice including NICE guidelines and routine outcome monitoring relating to the designated pathway.
- Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety within area of specialty.
- Knowledge of supervision, management and leadership practice, including electronic staff record systems.
- Working knowledge of legislation, regulation, policy, guidance and practice relating to safeguarding children.
- Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
