An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

The successful applicant will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with considerable clinical experience.

The post holder will be an active senior leader for the inpatient service, offering leadership and guidance to the wider team and will be involved in service development work. You will provide clinical interventions and work closely with the team to give clinical direction and oversight, provide supervision and develop a training program for the inpatient clinical staff.

A thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Human Rights Act will be essential to the role as these will provide the framework for all consideration.

Main duties of the job

  • Practice at an advanced clinical level and exercise high levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in clinical care.
  • Provide clinical leadership, expert practice, advanced knowledge, and strategic direction on all aspects of adult acute mental health at Meadowbrook.
  • Providing clinical leadership and management leading to the provision of safe, quality, effective care.
  • Improving workforce knowledge and practice through the provision of an inpatient education and training
  • Leading improvements in the quality of care and safety through service development, evaluation and audit.
  • To participate in the divisional local on call manager rota.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential
  • Professional qualification RMN/Part 2 NMC
  • Master level qualification relevant
  • Extensive experience in clinical roles within mental health
  • Extensive experience within inpatient mental health services
Desirable
  • Qualifications in Project Management / change management / Quality improvement
  • Non medical prescriber
Knowledge Essential
  • Extensive knowledge of psychological, social and biological factors and formulating these into a comprehensive bio-psycho- social formulation and risk management plans.
  • Facilitate a culture of life long learning including involvement in the process of clinical supervision
  • Knowledge and understanding of current evidence based practice in relation to service users with difficulties managing emotions / diagnosis of personality disorder.

Work Related Experience Essential
  • Able to lead on a series of audits, action plans and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience of leading complex RCA, complaints and HR investigations
