The North East Kent Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team is looking for 2 Registered Mental Health Nurses to join their team which provides a responsive assessment and home treatment service to those experiencing an acute mental health crisis in the community. You will be expected to work collaboratively with Service Users, Carers and other professionals, offering home treatment interventions as an alternative to hospital admission across the areas of Canterbury & Coastal and Thanet.

You need to work on shifts including nights, bank holidays and weekends and be able to undertake physical interventions training in order to support persons waiting for assessment in the designated place of safety.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, providing intensive home treatment to patients and support for their families in accordance with Trust and CRHTT Policies and Procedures and the Care Programme Approach.

To manage a defined caseload of clients experiencing an acute mental health episode, using evidence based, client centred, hope and recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention orientated principles and practice.

To assist in identifying, developing and providing a multidisciplinary approach within the service in accordance with the needs of services users and the requirements of the service.

To utilise a range of therapeutic interventions for adults with acute mental illness.

• To participate in the preceptorship programme during the first post registration year in the NHS

• To assist the senior staff by identifying personal and professional training needs in order to appropriately plan for future training and development.
• To provide effective supervision, support and guidance for non-registered workers and any work delegated to them. To participate in planning of own clinical supervision.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• A recognised professional qualification as a Registered Nurse (Mental Health) and NMC registration, or equivalent qualification for Occupational Therapy.

• Practice Educator/Mentor Qualification

• Experience of acute mental health care.
• Experience of nursing a range of mental health conditions.

Skills Essential

• The ability to travel across a large geographical area 24 hours a day.
• knowledge of current best practice in providing holistic interventions to people experiencing acute episode of mental ill health.
• knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding, Consent to Treatment.
• A robust understanding and ability to apply principles of risk assessment and risk management.
• Understanding of the impact of acute episode of mental illness on function and occupation of clients, family and carers.
