Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation NHS Trust (LPFT) is an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies site (IAPT). An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Band 7 to join the steps2change IAPT Service based in Boston, Skegness or Grantham although you may also be required to cover alternative bases to meet service need. The Service provides evidence based interventions within a stepped care model, treating people with mild to moderate common mental health problems. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major national service, which has fundamentally changed the way in which psychological treatments are provided.

Main duties of the job

All applicants will need to have gained a PG Diploma in CBT as an essential requirement, as well as a professional qualification (nurse/occupational therapist/social worker/clinical psychologist or psychological therapy).The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work within a team environment and be thoroughly conversant with the use of clinical systems.

The Band 7 Cognitive Behavioural Therapist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing step 3 protocol driven CBT interventions for a range of anxiety disorders and depression. The post holder will be expected to hold a clinical caseload, and will be provided with clinical supervision.

Job description Job responsibilities

Undertakes psychological assessments of patients referred to the service. Assessments will include identification of the patients problem, comprehensive risk, assessment and identification of goals for therapy.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the departments referral protocols, refers unsuitable patients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service

To formulate patients problems using cognitive behavioural protocols and implement CBT interventions in line with NICE guidelines

To refer clients to specialist services when appropriate

To maintain accreditation with BABCP and adhere to professional guidelines and ethical framework

To deliver group or Individual interventions in line with the organisations requirements Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.

To attend team meeting, meetings, and mandatory training

To attend clinical supervision

To provide supervision for any trainee cognitive behavioural psychotherapists as required

Comply with and carry out safe practice in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, and other relevant national and local guidance.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Post graduate diploma in CBP and Accreditation with BABCP
  • Professional qualification as Clinical Psychologist, Nurse, Social Worker Occupational Therapist or psychological therapy
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, Nurse, Social Worker ,OT or psychological therapist
  • Experience of working in Primary Care Services
  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
