As an occupational therapist, you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team. You will deliver high quality evidence based occupational therapy assessments, interventions and consultations to the individuals referred to our services. We provide a range of group and individual work, alongside team duties such as team assessments, and coordinating care for people accessing our services.

We use Model of Human Occupation to guide all our OT assessments and interventions.

Within SABP we have a robust CPD offer which includes reflective practice as well as Occupational Therapy core skills, eLearning and bimonthly Occupational therapy Forums.We are particularly focused on embedding trauma informed practice, occupational science and neuroscience into our practice, along with developing leadership skills at every level.

We regularly take students and support development opportunities.

Posts will be based in the Community and Location will be confirmed if successful

Main duties of the job

Band 5 Key Responsibilities

To provide high quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and interventions (group and individual) to people who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with the occupational therapy pathways and with support/supervision from a specialist occupational therapist.

To communicate effectively with people who access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate outside agencies.

To contribute to the generic functioning of the team.

To contribute to occupational therapy student placements.

To participate in service development and audits.

To take on the role of lead professional as appropriate.

Band 6

To provide high quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and interventions, both group and individual, to people who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with the occupational therapy pathways.

To communicate effectively with people who access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate outside agencies.

To contribute to the generic functioning of the team.

To provide supervision and mentoring to more junior occupational therapists, occupational therapy apprenticeships, support workers and activities coordinators (as appropriate)

To provide occupational therapy student placements.

To contribute to service development and audits.

To take on the role of lead professional as appropriate.

To provide high quality occupational therapy assessments for people who access the service, adapting the approach as and when needed, with support/supervision from a specialist occupational therapist.

To provide evidence based and outcome measured occupational therapy interventions (individual and group), as outlined in the occupational therapy pathway, with support/supervision from a Specialist Occupational Therapist.

To use effective clinical reasoning and formulation skills to devise person-centred occupational therapy care plans, alongside people who access services and their carers/supporters/family members (where appropriate), with support/supervision from a Specialist Occupational Therapist.

Band 6 Roles

To demonstrate expertise and specialist occupational therapy skills in areas such as occupational identity and competency, occupational engagement, environmental adaptation, volition, development and maintenance of occupational skills.

To provide high quality occupational therapy assessments for people who access the service, adapting the approach as and when needed.

Person Specification Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of occupational frames of reference and approaches
  • Knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models
  • Knowledge of the impact of health and disability on occupational performance, participation and identity
  • Interest and skills in specialist area
Desirable
  • Previous experience of working with people within the clinical area (can be pre-qualification).
Qualifications Essential
  • Occupational Therapy Professional Qualification with HCPC Registration
Experience Essential
  • Band 6
  • Relevant post qualification clinical experience
  • Experience of using multiple occupational frames of reference and approaches
  • Experience of using relevant occupational therapy assessment and implementing interventions
