An opportunity has arisen for a practitioner skilled and experienced with children, young people and families to take on the role of a Band 7 CAMHS Primary Mental Health Specialist in the South Bristol CAMHS team.

The focus of this role would be children and young people aged 11-18 years of age. You will be appropriately qualified (Clinical Psychologist, Arts Psychotherapist, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist etc) and have appropriate professional registration (eg HCPC).

You will provide consultation and training to schools and other agencies to help promote early identification and intervention to support the emotional and mental well-being our children and young people in South Bristol.

As a CAMHS Specialist in this team you will show enthusiasm, humour and acceptance and will have excellent communication and therapeutic skills. You will facilitate and provide assessment services on the psychological/emotional health of children and young people. You will lead and participate in multi agency meetings and consultations with South Bristol professionals.

You will engage in some direct therapeutic work with children and carers/parents and will contribute to presentations and training events for other professionals and carers/parents as required.

Main duties of the job

To upskill and support school staff by providing specialist mental health consultation, training, advice, support, and liaison to staff working with children, young people and their parents/carers

To be link between specialist CAMHS and the relevant frontline services, providing referral information, support and guidance and signposting to appropriate services. To explore and help facilitate access to specialist CAMHS where access issues are difficult.

To contribute to multi-agency assessment and interventions for children and young people, including an element of direct therapeutic work with children and young people.

To contribute to the CAMHS Getting Advice team rota to support the triage of referrals into CAMHS.

To contribute to whole school mental health policy for the primary and secondary schools in agreed catchment.
