This is an opportunity for a practitioner psychologist to join the Cwm Taf University Health Board (CTMUHB) Health Psychology Service in a new full-time post, initially funded by Macmillan with permanent funding assured from within the health board. Applicants wishing to apply for less than full-time hours will also be considered, as well as those wishing to job share.
The post holder will be embedded in Cancer & Palliative Care Services, providing a service primarily to Bridgend with oversight of this psychology service for the whole health board area.
The post holder will be based at The Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend and joining the rapidly developing, supportive and dynamic CTMUHB Health Psychology Service. The current psychology establishment also includes many posts in other specialities, including cardiac rehabilitation, critical care, paediatrics, neuropsychology, weight management and employee well-being, plus pending developments in additional specialties. There are good links with the South Wales Clinical Doctorate programme in Cardiff University and other university courses in South Wales. Strong networks of clinical health psychologists in South Wales are established, with numerous opportunities for CPD and peer support.

Main duties of the job
There will be direct and indirect work with adults, families/carers and members of the multidisciplinary teams, together with consultation to other professionals, training and multidisciplinary work with opportunity to contribute to developing the service. The new psychologist will work closely with another psychologist working in the speciality in CTMUHB and receive professional supervision from the Head of CTMUHB Health Psychology Service.

- Group learning grant of £5,000 per year
- Support Grant for service/quality improvement and innovation of up to £15,000 per year.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Professional qualification in Clinical Psychology at doctoral level (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
- Current HCPC registration
- Completion of a post-qualification advanced training in a formal psychological therapy
- Additional training in evidence-based psychological interventions specific to working with people with physical health problems
- Considerable experience of working in multi-professional teams
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
- Significant experience of working in a physical health setting and working with staff
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
- Meets all desirable criteria
- Ability to identify provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours
